Not a Mirage
Jose John Santos and Pam Yan Santos

Not a Mirage by John and Pam Yan Santos is inspired by the idea of a wishing well, a feature in many stories from our childhood. In this whimsical installation, the well has been rendered surreal by mirrors cleverly placed to coat its entire surface. Depending on where one stands, the different aspects of the well are rendered almost imperceptible, even invisible.

Meant as another interactive piece, children are encouraged to drop their wishes for the environment into the well.

The title, Not a Mirage thus implies the realization not only of wishing but also fulfilling the wish. The well is real, and so is the possibility of fulfilling wishes made in its name.
